The Dubai World Cup Carnival kicks off today at Meydan!
The Carnival consists of 9 consecutive Thursday meetings and culminates with Super Saturday on the 9th March; the final trial run before the US$35 million Dubai World Cup on March 30th.
A combination of Pure Arabian and Thoroughbred races are staged throughout the Carnival, including 5 Group 1 races and 10 Group 2's.
202 horses have been accepted for the Carnival from 17 countries and 71 trainers (33 of which are based in the UK).
The opening meeting is a six-race card and includes two Group 3 races; the Dubawi Stakes and the Singspiel Stakes. The home army, Godolphin, have entered 16 horses for the opening day's racing.
On its 16th year of being staged, the Carnival's prize money has seen a 12% increase this year to US$12,670,000 across the 10 race cards, and Super Saturday's total purse has been boosted to a record of US$2.65 million.
